Edge programmer and truck problems

I have a 2004 duramax vin1 which ran great with an edge juice with attitude until the epoxy caseing on the box cracked and failed. I replaced it with a new version of the same box. When the box was on, the engine sputtered the completely shut down until I released the throttle at around 2200 rpm. I sent the box back to edge and they tested it on their truck, sent it back to me, and said that it worked as designed. I still could not get it to work on my truck. I put it on a friends 2001, and it worked fine, I put it on a friends 2003 and it worked fine. I have replaced the crank sensor, the fuel rail pressure sensor, swapped ECM's,TCM's,FICM's none of which helped. GM dealer replaced the fuel injectors, with no improvement with the box on. I have replaced the fuel filter housing. I am totally frustrated with trying to get the Edge to enhance performance. Recently while towing a load in the Virginia mountians, with the box turned off, after a sustained pull in 3rd gear at 3000+ rpm the engine did the same thing half a dozen times. The truck seems to run smooth without the box on, except on a hard sustained pull. With the box on, it just falls on its face and shuts off. I use this truck to the max, pulling heavy loads up steep hills in WV, and only used the Juice Box when needed for a long pull. If anyone has any idea what is wrong with this thing, I certainly will be appreciative.

watch your fuel rail pressure in live data on a scanner and see if it drops off. it could be a bad fuel pressure regulator or cp3. it would make sense that it is worse with the edge on as it would be commanding more fuel than a stock tune would. is there any codes at all?

When was the last time you changed your fuel filter? Do you have a lift pump?

Edge programmer and truck problems

fuel filter was changed just prior to my trip thru virginia, and I do have a booster pump installed. Codes which have randomly appeared are PO236, PO380. Misc codes triggered throughout diagnostics were 0089C,0090A, 193A. I will try to watch the fuel rail pressure, I had thought that the fuel regulator seemed the next logical step. Does anyone know of a history of fuel line problems with these engines?

P0380 - Glow Plug/Heater Circuit "A" Malfunction

I am not sure about the others you listed. As far as a history of fuel line problems you can check the rubber lines going from the fuel filter housing going to the cp3 for cracks as they will develop over time and could cause headaches.

If those rubber lines develop cracks what do you replace them with?? Just regular fuel line from auto parts store or something special? I began replacing my injectors last night and noticed those lines on mine are beginning to develop cracks. Thanks, sorry to hijack man just thought it would be a good place to ask since he told you to check yours as well.

I believe you should be able to get fuel line that is rated for diesel from the parts store. I am not sure if it has to be high pressure since it is on the intake side of the cp3.

Check your bail connectors for pushed back pins, it might be your problem?

Edge programmer and truck problems

The edge is just a plug and play programmer, it worked as designed on Edge's test truck after I returned it to them, and it worked fine on two other trucks of friends of mine.
