I have a 2001 duramax that surges at idle. It is stock, as far as I know. I changed fuel filter, still doing it. No engine codes. Wondering what to do?
Its probably the FPR[fuel pressure regulator], some owners have had good luck adding 2 stroke oil to the fuel tank or a good diesel fuel supplement. It might stop the surging for a while. Do a search , there is plenty to read about surging at idle or FPR. Charlie
I did the 2-cycle treatment for a year or so. I didn't know how crappy my truck was running until I changed the FPR. I couldn't believe the difference it made.

What changes in performance besides the surging at idle did you see? Mine is starting to surge, even with 2 stroke, and I miss the truck it used to be a few years back.
