Takes about two hours to do the job.... Dont drop the bolts use a magnet on bottom bolt

good advice...might a dab of caulk between the bolt and socket help prevent this too? Im plannin on doing this mod when I get some time, and intend on tryin it...

Just finished mine. A little more turbo whistle and gained about 1 PSI. But that is with stockk airbox, it will only let so much in. Looks like I will have to buy a new one!

what are you using to cut out the hole? i read the writeup but must have missed it.

also do your trucks have a stock air intake or are they after market? i have an afe stage 2.

lately how much louder is the whistle? the louder the better for me..

What are you guy's using for a gasket?

I just cleaned both surfaces reall good and used some Ultra Copper gasket maker.

ok got one more question, why was that necked down in the first place? you would think it would be as wide as possible from the factory..

Probably just how the casting was made. They thought it would be efficent, well not efficent enough.

I did mine yesterday and today got halfway through and had to use the truck what timing.
Anyway as for turbo whistle i noticed it is alot higher pitched but the deep tone seems to be gone. I have a a K&N intake system so mine was fairly loud before i wouldnt say it made it any louder just changed the tone. But u can here it at lower revs now about 1500RPM before was about 2000RPM and with miniumal fuel
Plus spool up time is greatly improved. I smoothed mine out and inlarged the bore to 2.72
First time taken it off about an hour second time 20 mins much easyer to reinstall then to remove
