Are you getting any abnormal smoke? Do you have a boost gauge? If so are the boost levels normal? If not does the power feel normal or less?

Boost tube loose? Check the pipes coming to and from the intercooler.

does it sound like an old school fire engine? woooooooowoooooooo

hate to say it but blown turbo is my thought, been through it once..... if it makes that same noise when driving regularly i would have to say thats what it is, the bearings are failing, if you keep running it hard it will blow and then its bad news.... rule out blown turbo before driving that truck too much....

gonna throw this out there in case it is the problem and it does fail, you have to choke the air to it...it will start running on oil out of the pan and it will burn all of it leaving none to lube the motor....which will obviously ruin the motor....i will say it again YOU MUST CHOKE THE AIR TO THE MOTOR!!!! turning the key will NOT turn the motor off!

Mine has the same noise. Been doing it for over a year with no change. I have looked at everything and cannot find it. Thought it was normal until a fellow duramax friend was in the truck wandering what the heck that noise was. It might be a small hole that only opens under pressure. Getting ready to make 2 plug (one with a valve stem ) to plug and pressurize the turbo hoses from the turbo to the intake to see if I can find a leak. Or I could always go for the 30 mph ride with my legs sticking out of the hood....just not feeling that brave though.

What year or better yet what kind of truck are you driving?

I think you might be hearing the fan?

Check the Banjo bolts that keep the plastic tubes attached to the aluminum tobes fruuing from and to the intercooler.
