Coolant leak left side front...

I just drove the truck and the low coolant light came on. I crawled under it and on the drivers side, there is a tube that connects to the water pump. The tube looks to be aluminum. It's getting dark and hard to tell where it goes. It is all wet too, not positive it isn't coming from the lower radiator hose to the wp. Where does the alum tube go? Do they have issues with pitting and leaking?
Wags
Thanks

not usualy and the weap hole for the water pump is right next to the lower hose. mine started leaking the day after i swapped my trans and cooler lines, so i figured i disturbed the hose. removed it cleaned it put a little sealer on it and installed a new clamp, still leaked press. test it and watch the hole on the bottom of the pump.

Also check the short horoziontial 1/2" bypass hose above the water pump.

Thanks guys, I will check it out tomorrow. It isn't leaking from the head gasket. I don't thrash the hell out of it. It didn't appear to be above the pump, but alot of stuff crammed in there.
Thanks again for the suggestions. I'll keep you posted for future reference.

Well, I see a few similar threads. The hose above the wp is ok. No leaks. It has been a little wet. I ceretainly will change it when the sp is off. Lower radiator hose ok. Appearantly the balancer needs to come off to swap the pump.
No hill for a climber I guess. I just cannot see the weep hole. The wp is slightly loose (shaft that is). That's the direction I am headed.
Anyone have the porper torque for the balancer bolt?

A BUNCH!

No really, it is like 280 ft lbs?????? I am not sure, and I do not rightly remember.

You will need a special tool to hold the flywheel while you get a LONG breakerbar to break it loose, it is TIGHT!

I just looked it up on alldatadiy and it says 260 ft. lbs. It also says to lube the bolt with clean engine oil. Either way, that is tight!

Well, project took 3.5 hours. I have to add antifreeze and start it. It's dark, I'll do it in the morning. I'd say not a huge deal. I'm a servicxe rep on industrial equipment, so not my first day turning a wrench.
I'd second biggest headache is balancer. I stuck a prybar in between the flexplate and torque convertor. Loosened and tightened fine.
I used a piece of 3/8 fuel line to replace the tube that is above the water pump while I was in there. It will ceretainly handle the pressure. Hope the heat isn't an issue. It gets pretty hot in an engine compartment. We'll see about that one.
Thanks for the help
Steve

Where did you insert the prybar at?

Through the starter hole, or somewhere else?
