Testing Glow Plugs, 02 LB7

I was attempting to check the glow plugs tonight following the directions in this thread glow plug continuity? It says the glow plug controller is on the rear of the drivers side valve cover next to the firewall, found a box that could be it, and it did have 3 wire harnesses comming out of it but only one harness had 4 wires (supposd to be 2 according to that thread) and when I tryed using the test light nothing so I either had the wrong harness or i'm in the wrong place all togather. Can anyone direct me in the right direction as to where the glow plug harness is so I can test them...

Truck is a 2002 LB7 It slipped my mind to mention that I was working on a Buddy's truck.

Its a proven statistic that Duramax's drop the panties at a faster/more consistant rate than Cummins or Powerstrokes

You're in the right spot. You need to test the 2 outer connectors. When you are looking at the glow plug controller, leave the one in the middle alone. Hook up the ground clamp for your test light to the positive of the battery. Touch the test light lead to a ground and see if it lights. Lightly probe the connectors at the glow plug controller, if none of them make the test light light up, then they are good. You are looking for the 1 or 2 that make it light up.

See I thought it was supposed to have three harnesses but it does not it has two and one smaller one going over the top. I'm not much of an artist but this is what i'm looking at. am I still in the right spot?

also that other thread said the ones that did not light up the test light were bad thanks for clearing that up too.

Well I just noticed you have an LLY , right?
This is the LB7 forum so i assumed LB7.
The easiest way to check on your LLY is to just touch the testlight directly to the glowplug connector at the glow plug itself.

I don't know how to test the controller, but you can test each injector itself for continuity to ground.
