Why would you call Gm if your fuel gelled up? Plus the dealer only keeps 3 gallons in the tank.

Pulled up to the pump tonight to fuel up as I was down to 1/2 tank. Pulled the bottle of Stanadyne Performance Formula out of the snow in the bed. To my surprise, the Stanadyne was gelled in it's bottle. Had been in the bed for about a week. Temp last night -2 F. ??????

from what I've heard stanadyne will gell in the bottle when cold, but when mixed with fuel is an anti gel adative.

Your fuel supply should have had winter blend in the bulk tanks by 11/15/05. Most here in northern In. had winter blend by 11/1/05. This is not a GM problem just operator error. It was -2 this morning and the fuel I bought on 11/2/05 ran okay. I run what comes off the tank wagon which is 2% soydiesel with additives the fuel supplier adds. Todays tank wagon price with 6% sales tax is $2.74. The fuel in town is $2.55 with 6% sales tax. I pay a few cents more for fuel that I trust is blended right and is of high quality.

Two dealerships had 10 2005 Duramax's gelled up at 40 miles apart in the Joliet,il area. that is why I called gm both dealerships said these are the first duramax's they ever seen gelled up so, either north central illinois got bad fuel or gm has a problem. Plus went to fuel comapny and they showed me the delivery receipt, receipt 5000 gals winterblend diesel delivered on dec 2. and I put half a bottle of fuel conditioner inalso.

How can GM have a problem? Fuel gelling up is not GMs fault.Someone could have made a mistake at the fuel company and they made fuel that wasnt blended even if the ticket says so.Maybe you should call Ford and Dodge dealerships and see if they have seen trucks come in for gelling.

Sometimes we take our fuel for granted. If you want to know, you must ask. What is the blend? There are lots of different blends, 80/20, 70/30, 60/40 and 50/50 with first number being #2 and second number being #1. There is also winterized fuel that is simply #2 with a fuel additive. The next thing is that different fuels from different refineries can have different cloud points and cold filter plug points. And fuels also vary from year to year. Now this makes me sound like I know what I am talking about and I do a little, but it is supposed to hit -21f here tonight and I have no idea what blend I just filled with the other day, because it isn't advertised on the pump and I am kind of lazy and used the credit card pay on the fuel island. So, if the cummins and the duramax both don't run in the morning, maybe I will just go back to bed Or, take a hair dryer to the fuel filter and get it good and warm

Mine has sat outside the last three nights while I was at work in northern IL and fired right up every morning. I'm using Stanadyne Perf. Formula and BP diesel. It was -3 degrees according to the mirror thermometer this AM.
