Goodbye to a good lly
So I finally traded in my lly...After 7.5 years and 145k miles it was just time. I appreciate everyones help over the years on this forum and wanted to say thanks. In addition I'll leave my final thoughts...
The truck was good to us. We owned it since new and our the only issues we had were water pump(doesn't everyone) 1 hub Tranny cooler cracked Tie Rods, ball joints, idler, pitman Steering box Not to bad and we abused this truck Oh and we ran it on B99 for close to 100k miles.Never had a fuel related issue...Very happy with it, but like I said it was time to go. My only advice for future GM trucks is to get their sh*t together and give us a decent interior. As far as a smooth drivetrain, the dura/allison combo is second to none. |

Yup just picked up a 2012 Ram 6.7 cummins...Its tough to compare to the GMs, they are completely different trucks......IMO the GM is a more refined drivetrain, smoother power band.Drives more like a car and I dont mean that in a bad way...But the Ram is damn nice. The interior is so much nicer than the GM. I driven the newer dmaxes and damn they are smooth, but the bland interior really kills it. I do like the ride height and cab size of the ram better than the GM.

The GM interior I just felt was basic....plain...simple things like a two tone dash and seats or small computer display, backlit speedo/tach...Im not saying the ram is perfect, but interior IMO is a step above the GM...(Im also comparing base vs. base) and yes i have a 2011 in our work fleet so I CAN compare, but like I said the Ram is a blast to drive, but neither dodge or Ford come near to as smooth and refined suspension, engine/trans combo, and steering as the GM...that part I will miss. The Ram has a lag below 1800-2000 rpm and then you feel that serious torque kick in. The duramax was smooth and linear. And like I said I was really happy with my Sierra and I consider the best truck I've owned so far...but it was time to trade her in and after 5 GMs, I just wanted something a bit different.

When it starts rotting out in 5 yrs don't come back crying . I do like dodge also but the nickel and dime stuff that fails will drive you nuts

IM not saying the dodge is perfect, but our LML is nickel and diming the crap out of us, we are already going into oil consumption tests with GM (> 1gallon in 1500 miles)..., replacing front end parts, oh and the interior dash is literally peeling...Like I said I considered my sierra a good truck, but dont sit there and BS me that these trucks never nickel and dimed you...front end parts, hubs, cluster repair, water pumps, leaking trans lines, pump rub, overheating, steering shaft, injector harness...Do I need to continue. We've owned trucks from all brands and say what you want the dodges cost us the least to maintain...Its not even close..guess what, the Fords cost the most however..we still own GMs but just time for something different and I even mentioned that the dmax drivetrain beats the other companies. Its hands down the smoothest and most refined..Dont forget this thread is titled goodbye to a GOOD lly...
