What does GM's Injector Harness Kit Include?

Does the wiring harness kit from GM (part # 98017958) consist of both #2 and #7 wiring harness and brackets. I was given a estimate of $803.73 for the dealer today. After reviewing the estimate I noticed it said quanity (2) harnesses for a total of $516.82 for parts. When I questioned this they told that I had to order one for each injector (#2 & #7). I was under the impression from reading other forms here and looking at pictures that the kit included both #2 and #7 harness and hardware. I also looked on gmpartsdirect.com but there was no detailed descrption or picture. I am aware of the "pick" fix but was looking into the GM fix kit as well.

Read up on the icepick fix in the DIY section. If you truck is out of warranty, or you even have to pay any money at all and it sounds like you do...then don't bother. There are many guys on here who have had the "new improved" kit and only to have it fail in under 5k after the install. Once they pick it...no problems. I'm at about 10K miles on my icepick fix and I have not had a problem and I don't have the kit installed.

Here is the thread on how long guys have been running the pick fix:

How long have you run on "The Fix"

If you haven't read it yet, here is "the fix".

If you want to take it in the tailpipe for $516 then more power to ya, but I would pick it. My new and improved connectors worked less than 2 months. Ice picked em and all is well.

I got soaked on a long road trip in the middle of Montana $830 for the #2 and #7 injector fix. I would deffinatly try the ice pic method first, I wish I would have known about it earlier. The kit is $218 from the dealer i believe, it comes with #2 and #7 injector plugs and a new bracket for the #7 harness

I sure know that I wouldn't pay that much money for anything with butt connectors! I would just as soon pay for a complete new harness than butt connect anything. The heat shrink ones are great and all but still can corrode, I've worked on fertilizer equipment for almost 10 years now and have decided that its better to start from scratch with new weather-packs, etc. than splice onto a wire. I put a new fuel pump in my 01 6.0 and they sent along the new style pig tail and butt-connectors. I would think at the dealer they would have the crimp tools to put different ends on the fuel pump connector instead of that. I would feel lots better with the pick fix than the other. Just my two cents.

IS the problem only with the #2 and #7 injector harness? so the kit is for a known problem?

these connectors when used correctly seal as good as any new harness sealer uzes up and seals when heated.about $3 each compared to a new engine harness at $1000 +
