Very cool conversion...... A SWB RC Duramax would be my dream ride..... Maybe someday when the kids are out of the house and their college expenses are behind me I'll build one.
Just wondering, had you considered just finding a RC long box with a Duramax already in it and just shorten the frame and put a short box on it? Or is the build just part of the fun.

The build is just part of the experience.

Aw damn, hit a snag that I cant figure out. I hope TDIguy sees this and can answer it for me.
I got the Dmax engine mount frame brackets from another member last week. The brackets were off a 4x4 truck. Neither one of them fit the V6 1500 frame. I also checked and found that 2wd Dmax brackets are the same as 4x4. I was hoping they were different, but that seems to not be the case. What Im wondering is, can I use the DS gasser bracket, since it seems to be in the same place as the Dmax one would be? Secondly, what can I do about the PS bracket? What can I use in that spot, or am I stuck fabricating a new bracket? The V6 bracket is offset toward the rear of the truck, which is completely opposite of what the Dmax bracket needs to be (due to starter?). The Dmax bracket is also a good 2 inches too short to even fit on the frame. Fabbing a new bracket will be very difficult for me to do, so any ideas on alternate parts will help me immensely.

Took a couple pics to illustrate what I'm talking about.

Is the issue with the passenger side bracket from the Dmax simply that it won't reach the frame?
Sorry having a bit of trouble understanding your problem exactly, but the way I am picturing it, I would make brackets coming off of the frame, to mount the Dmax engine brackets exactly where they need to be. Also, very cool project Hope I get a chance to help you out on it bit

The Dmax brackets arent wide enough to fit over the 1/2 ton frame mounts, and the DS one is mounted at an angle, not straight. Neither would work.
Found out I should use the V8 gasser brackets (I guess they are different from the V6 ones), and make an adapter for the Dmax mounts. Thanks for the information, Eric.

Tom,
The only thing that I can help with is you "ABS Delete" question. The ABS is respnsible for the Dynamic rear proportioning. Older trucks use a proportioning valve to limit the rear wheel hydraulic pressure. You would have to install a valve if you wanted to do away witht the ABS. Quote:
