Happened to me a few times. started about a month ago 36,000 mi. Brought it to dealer, checked all my exhaust connections, reprogrammed some stuff (not sure what, havent got the paperwork back). I have had 2 regen cycles since I got it back, 1st cycle I got a little smoke, 2nd cycle I got none. I'm gonna keep and eye on it. I will let you know what they did for reprogramming once I get the paperwirk back. Who knows if it's fixed....

I drive a 2008 KW for work.It has a dpf on it.
it is not uncommon to see the newer trucks all of a sudden, blow puffs of white smoke out of the stacks,as part of the regen process. I've had fellow drivers following me and I following them, notice it, and tell each other about it.especially when the dpf's 1st came out.Now its common place.

It's not "smoke", really - It's the ash being blown out of the DPF as the regen cycle nears completion, or reaches completion. I see it every so often on the class-8 equipment I drive, although usually it happens on the highway so you never notice it.

I'm only mentioning this in case some owners are in Mexico. It is normal when in Mexico to see clouds of white smoke during regeneration due to the higher sulfur content in Mexican fuel. Anyone in Mexico and worried about this, send me a PM.
