DEF quality poor
Driving along today and got a mesage that said DEF quality poor / see operators manual now. Looked it up and it said 200 miles truck goes to 55 mph and at 500 miles it goes to limp home.
Called my dealer and they said bring it in. 2600 miles DEF filled by dealer 1100 miles ago. Outside temp in mid 40's. Before I got to the dealer the light went out and mesage went away. It stayed on for around 70 miles and the truck was started 2 times during this time. |

Where do you buy your DEF? If you buy anything other then GM DEF I bet they will drain the tank, but GM DEF in and hand you a bill.

I had the same message come up at about 2500 miles. I called my dealer and he said it was probably due to the temperature change and condensation building up in the lines where the sensor is. I had not added any DEF since I had purchased the pickup, so he said to add a 2.5 gal jug to be safe and see what it does. I added the DEF and the message stayed up for the next two times I started the pickup that day, but went away after that. I've never had any trouble with it since, and I'm at 6,000 miles.

All is good for now. It has not come back on.
Problem is what happens on a long trip. Mine went off in about 80 miles, UKNOWME8 had his go off after the next 2 key starts. 200 miles is not long enough to get back home and carry it to the dealer. It will leave us stranded on the side of the road. Thank You EPA for this BS |
