Took it to the dealer today just to have it checked out this is what is on the service sheet, dealer called GM and this is per GM tac

That truck is running normally, truck makes 397 hp and 765 ft lb of torque. Truck makes significantly more power then the 08 did and generates more heat. Truck is currently running in break in mode. Advise customer to watch data and average out over time Vehicle can run regen mode after several values are met. It can start regen mode at 18 hours, or after 86 gallons of fuel or up to 700 miles. Truck can also initiate regen of dpf after it reaches 44 grams. Advise the data will be off until the break in period is over.

I noticed my 1st regen at under 400 miles. I'm curious as to what mileage they consider the break-in over. It doesn't smell inside the truck during regen like the LMM, so I'm excited about that!

How did you get the soot mass value? Is it on the DIC. My 2010 has done only a couple regens that I know of in 3K miles. Will it automatically regen per GM at 44 grams?

Also does the DIC show instant mileage or only average economy like my 2010? I assume they don't want us to see the mileage during regen? I know you can keep resetting to get almost instant but this is a hassle!!

I have a Edge Insight where i can see the soot mass, and you still just get average mpg no instant but I can tell you the regen lasted 35 min. and the mileage went from 18.5 to 14.8 but recovered back to the high 16's within 20 miles. It seems to read faster then my 08 did. The soot mass on my 08 would get no higher then around 32 grams but this one started the regen at 115 grams

Mike, can you help me understand your post a little better? It sounds like you're saying that your LML goes to a much higher level of soot loading than your LMM did? What were your normal numbers after a regen compared to the loading when it went into regen for the two trucks?

Also, I wonder if the difference in smell (lack of it on the LML) is because of the 9th injector? Perhaps it doesn't smell because the engine isn't involved in putting the fuel into the exhaust.

If I understand the question right you want my numbers after a regen and what they when it started. Sorry on my first cup of coffee.

1. LMM The soot mass would start out at .03 grams and normally would go to 27 grams and start the regen. I have seen it go as high as 35, the regen process would take about 20 min of driving over 30 mph. The EGT at the highest point of the regen would be 1,242 degrees and it would stink (in town driving)

2. LML Since it has only regen'd once so really do not have a base line but it went to around 115 grams and started the process but only went down to 14.9 grams. I was on open road for 90% of this regen so no stop and go. It took around 35 minutes and the EGT was going to a high of 1,395 degrees

Now in both cases the truck felt a little sluggish do to the reduction in boost (im guessing they do this to control heat) I really noticed it in the LML. But then again still trying to get use to how they set up the map on the throttle in the new truck, feels kind of sluggish anyway compared to the LMM until you push the throttle down

Man, those are pretty aggressive EGT's during regen. I wonder what they read during regen when pulling a big load. I'm not really worried since you know GM has tested the scenario in many different conditions, but it would be nice to know what it should be. I, too, will be installing an Insight this next week. Did you install your EGT probe at the manifold?
