LBZ vs LML for towing

I have a 2006 chevy with the LBZ engine and get 8 to 12 mpg while towing with a 40 hp tune. Has anway compared a LBZ with a mild tune to a stock LML for towing? Thanks!

It's more about the ride, frame, brakes, intergrated exhaust brake, better shift schedule and the overall truck than just the engine. My '12 compared to the '07 is night and day difference. '07 with EFIlive had plenty of power as does the stock '12. I ran about 90hp over on the '07 and I think they are about the same pulling a long steep hill. '12 runs cooler ECT and trans temps. Difference in fuel milage isn't worth mentioning.

The 2012 has almost 400 HP and 800 ft lbs of torque. It's bloody amazing !!! And the built in engine brake is fantastic. NO COMPARISON with an 07.

Agree with above posts.
Empty truck will feel like a slug till you get used to the throttle mapping. Freight train power, but you now have to move the skinny pedal a long ways to get it. In stock form not near as "jumpy" in stop and go type driving as LBZ with programmer. Very smooth. Can't believe how long it will hold 6th gear on hills before an almost unnoticeable drop to 5th. Brakes are just awesome. I get about 10-13 MPG towing a very unfreindly airodynamic 12,000lbs 5th wheel. ( straight up from pin to almost 13' )

My LML in stock form tows my 14k fifth wheel as easily as my LBZ did with a Hyperpac on level 2. Plenty of power there although with the lazier pedal, it takes a little more force to get to it.
As said, with the addition of the turbo brake, bigger brakes and a stronger frame, it's definitely a step up in all directions.
That being said, I loved my LBZ and would still be driving it if someone hadn't stole it out of my driveway.

I also had a LBZ, running a Edge Race CTS in level 2 or 3 for towing. As others have mentioned, my LBZ had plenty of power to tow, but with the new frame, suspension, brakes, factory exhaust brake, and integrated trailer brake controller, the only thing comparable between the trucks is power. In all other aspects the LML is far better at towing heavy loads.

My mileage between the two trucks towing and running around empty in town is also about identical, however empty on the interstate running 75mph my LML actually does a little better (1-2mpg).
