All indications led to bad injectors on my new to me 93' 6.5TD. As I see it I have three options: 1)Rebuild my injectors, 2)Buy new stock replacement or 3)Buy performance replacements.
The cost to rebuild 8 injectors is $339 and the cost of performance Delphi injectors is $525 ... believe it or not the stock replacements are closer to $600 here.
Would it really be worth the extra $180 for performance injectors. I have two sets, a set of 94' injectors that need rebuilding loose and the set of 93's currently in the truck ... any major differences between the two?
UMMM...anytime I have to install one of these high dollar parts, I go with the performance. Then again, I'm always on a quest for bigger and better, and need to justify the bill...the wifey doesn't understand why I'd replace a good part with a better one...especially when there's this much money involved. I simply forget to tell her how much cheaper the stock parts are vs. the upgrades...not sure what's available for the 6.2, though. Check kennedydiesel.com, ssdiesel.com, or heathdiesel.com for your options, though. I've dealt with kennedy and heath, and would deal with either of them for anything.
Why don't you have your spare injectors rebuilt with new tips? Should be way cheaper. Check some other nearby fuel injection shops, those prices are steep.
When I priced it, the fuel shops wanted about $50 an injector to rebuild them, Orielly's was $37 with exchange and napa was $57 rebuilt.
I found a new set on ebay, didn't have to give up my old cores and paid $40 ea
I was a little intimidated when they didn't have a brand name on them, heck they did't have anything but part numbers, probably made by chinese prison labor, but I liked them enough to buy another set.
