I just changed mine on my burb, pretty straight forward slide the plastic cover up the column unbolt column unbolt pitman arm at center link and undo the bolts that hold box on, it helps if you pop the idler arm loose at the center link and remove lines, lock your column with the ignition switch so it doesn't spin around and mess up the clock spring for the horn and air bag, the column only goes back on one way. The box will drop out with the pitman arm on it,replace the outings on the lines and re install

Carefull of the lines, they tend to strip fairly easily, mainly when threading them back in. Just take care not to crossthread them going back in.
what brand of steering box did you get? edit: This is also a great time to put in a Jeep XJ steering shaft and do away with the rag joint, although it is easy to do whenever.

I wasn't saying you need to replace the lines on the box, just be carefull when you screw them back into the new box, make sure not to crossthread them...it's pretty easy to.
I picked up my XJ shaft from the junkyard for $10. I had to pull a couple of them to find one with no slop in the ujoint. It takes about 10 minutes to pull, even less if the engine is already gone. HB removal and install Though not a fluiddampner, maybe this will help.

* 4,ask PrivatePilot myself and WhiteK2500 about the hours it took to hold your mouth right and bite your tongue "just so" when a line felt it could only be reinstalled cross threaded-and what it takes to get it back to straight and tight.

well i started tarring the truck apart last night went OK the lower fan shroud bolts are so rusted that i have to ether cut the bolts off or cut the plastic to get it off i have to go get an 18 mm line wrench to get the steering lines off the gear box because the set of wrenches i bought yesterday dose not have a 18 mm
and putting a stick shift in gear with the parking brake on don't seem to be enough to get the hb bolt off im probably going to replace the rag joint on the steering shaft as its right in front of my face threatening me that it will break if i don't replace it
