Optimum timing setting with a DB2 pump
What would you think the optimum timing is for a manual truck using a DB2 pump. Using a MT1480 with the lumy probe in the glow hole ??
Max power - ? Factory timing - ? Max torx - ? Thoughts....

I bet ya won't hear many folks say this, but I don't care about mileage, this is my tow rig, ( 19,000-20,000lbs) looking for the most and best setting for torx & power under 2500rpm's......

20k pounds? That including the weight of the truck? Are you referring to the truck in your sig with 373 gears?

I could not find any numbers in the book. It only talks about static timing and i have never done it that way. I don;t have the book for my MT480. Been trying to hunt one down.

Aces,
I have an MT480 manual downloaded on my computer at home. I'll send it to you when I get there.

I have the manual for the MT1480, but it doesn't give any specs... I am going to half to change my balancer first, the magnetic prob won't read the Fulidampr as it doesn't have a grove in it....

Dump the timing tool. Won't work with 6.5l > No Spec, not applicable. Best set the timing line on the pump one line width over toward the drivers side. Could go a bit more but you are over-loaded towing.
