Eprom questions
Ok I installed my F intake. The truck I pulled it from had been picked over pretty well. The guy said he thought it was a 94 or 95 Which it had the baro sensor up on the firewall so I thought he may have been right. It was a 2500 3/4 ton. Swap went pretty easy everything went together as it should. I also pulled the computer from that unit thinking I would swap in the eprom to eliminate any egr based codes. SO I swapped it in today. And got no codes also noticed the red line rev limiter was taken out as well. Kind of odd mine normally kicks on at 3000 rpm when revving it while sitting still. Ok whatever maybe the F codes are different im thinking. So I take it out on the road for a test. It wont shift out of first gear. I restart it several times but to no avail this thing wont shift. I got no CEl's at all which I was getting with my old eprom. So I swapped my old one back in and it shifts once again. Any ideas as to why it wont shift or is that the nature of dealing with Eproms. on a side note it ran like a raped ape with that new chip lol up till 40 mph anyway.

The code have to match exactly.
It should be on top of the IC with the blue carrier.

I didn't notice the pedals. But the column was gone. I wasnt really looking for it. I called him this morning though it was a standard truck.

Yes, that eprom cannot be used in your truck since your truck is automatic.
Means that the code does not exactly match.

Yeah the manual trans PCM wont work But you can always have it reflashed for an automatic. Talk to Alex at http://www.pcmperformance.com/index.html pretty sure he will do a factory reflash to automatic for around 80.00. They also do custom tuning for 6.5. Havent used them for diesel but i had them program a LT1 Pcm great program and real fast turnaround.
