Anything that can't be seen running (and test drove, IMHO) should sell for scrap value, and nothing more.
If he's willing to let you start it and drive it, then that would change in my mind - but there's no way I'd pay anything remotely close to that without at least hearing/seeing it run. Even then, considering the condition mentioned in the ad and the mileage, I think $1500 is high.

Ak a few questions. Why are th batteries out? Were they dead or moved to other vehicles after this one quit running? Look and see if the oil lines are blown out. Check the tranny fluid and oil. Bring a good jump box or batteries and try to start it.
There are plenty of running ones out there for that money, if you are OK with some rust.

I got my flawless body, extended cab 6.5 TD non running, for 1000.00 and it came with a 150gallon fuel tank in the bed, and a fuel transfer pump, and a brand new in the box diamond eye kit with muffler... I think you can do better on the price.

plan for the worst -but buy or borrow a battery to test it!
-Can you afford parts if needed maybe $2000 total-worst case? -Is it a DD? Look for upgrades to the truck-Oil cooler lines, exhaust etc. I assume the DB2 pump is replaced. Otherwise the thing wouldn't start when hot! All things being equal, the 1993 is a solid choice if you can replace whats needed to get it in good order.

I would bring some batteries or a good set of jumper cables and a friend with a rig to jump it with. That price is kinda high. If you cant get it running walk away. If it runs follow the checklist to the T and make sure things work. If you dont mind rust it could be a decent rig. Offer him 1000 and go from there if you can see it start and run.

what could be wrong with this truck?
I was wondering if some one could help me with this truck. I am thinking about purchasing it. Its a 95 chevy k3500 4x4. It has no/low compression in cylinder #6. Give me some scenarios why it would do that. The intake was tested and it was tested good. No mechanics could/would fix it and he took it to two. he wants $2500 "as is". Could someone help me diagnose the problem, what it would cost, and what i should pay for the truck. That would be great
