truckaccelerates on its own while driving

I am helping a friend out that has a truck that accelerates on its own while he is driving. and also does is when you rev it up free wheeling it.

its a 1997 gmc 2500 with about 250K never down the injector pump and say a heath diesel pmd kit on it.

Ive swapped the pmd with a known good one with no luck to fix the problem and im thinking that it imay be the injector pump.

thoughts?

Try holding a steady 2000 rpm in park/neutral with the throttle,if you are unable to do so you may need an IP.

Any codes ? SES light on ?
250k is ALOT of miles on an IP. Especially since ULSD came around. Probably the IP. See if you have any codes. Most IP's only last 120-160k if that.

When my IP went I got codes. I could start it and idle but the second I stepped on the pedal it would surge uncontrollably. If I shifted it into gear it would kill the engine.
I take it you have no codes?

You sir have a broken armature pin and need a new injection pump. Sorry for the bad news, thats how I figured mine out last winter. When it takes off like that, the armature pin in the back of the IP either breaks or locks open, thus causing a run-a-way. Once that happens, its game over, new IP.

For a new one, contact DieselPro???? on here. One of the moderators will give you the real name, I can't quite remember.

DieselPro is the guy to talk to. I bought my rebuilt injector pump from him. Been running it for the last 16 months without a hickup. VERY cheap price, fast shipping, and great service. He also didn't need a core in return.

I highly recommend him. Just shoot him a PM.
