Injection pump leaking

I believe I have found my fuel leak. I don't know much about the IP, so excuse my verbage. I think it is leaking from the top of the fuel shut off solenoid. Is that possible? Can the fuel shut off solenoid be replaced without replacing the whole pump?

Yes you can replace only the FSO solenoid you can find 1 on ebay for $20-40 easy. They can be PITA at times to get loose an impact works the best, Wrenches and sockets only seem to twist them off at flange at the bottom where the body connects to the fitting into the IP.

When using an impact watch the coonector if you want to save the FSO other wise cut the wires as close as possible if you have a replacement FSO and impact it out and replace it . Then go on!

how do you use an impact? The thing is round? Maybe I am confused on how it is attached. I assumed you use your hand and loosen if off.

That's probably why you have a leak; sounds like someone may have sheared off the hex-head bolt that should be on the top of the shut-off solenoid.

IIRC, the older version may not have hex head or TahoeDiesel is correct.

The older version has a torx screw, the new style has the hex.
if it leaks at the bottom where it screws in the pump, undo the connector, unscrew it,put a new 0 ring on and turn it back in.About 15 lbs torque will do.
