How many miles is too many for a 6.5L?

I am about to buy my first Diesel, 99 Chevy Suburban 2500 LT 4X4. I have always owned Suburbans but never a diesel. This specific one just was registered in Canada a few months ago so everything checked out. It has 216,000 Miles on it, it if is well taken care of, how far can I expect to get with it? An is $6600 a fair price for a good-excellent condition one?

Thanks!

We cant tell you how long it will last and the only way you can even try to guess is by knowing the condition of the internal parts. With that said if it was well taken care of and wasnt beaten on, and you continue to treat it the same way then you can make it last a long time. My 93 has 290,000 miles and still goes strong and i know there are multiple members here with over 300,000

6.2/6.5 Life expectancy is about 300-400K with many being replaced before 100K (catastrophic failure, not wearing out) and a few at 500K, even 750K+. I'd try to get the price down some due to the miles, but for the year and if it's in excellent condition, it may be a decent price for your area. Make sure you go through the FAQ's and get the pre-buy checklist and go over it with a fine tooth comb.

See the price is tricky. Ive seen Burbs in the same era of late 90s in good condition for the same price, with about the same miles. A dealership I saw had a 99 with 180 on it wanted 11K! So, it really only needs a seat cover for the driver other than that the paint and body need zero work.

Mine has about 320K runs great.. I drive about 1400 miles a week hauling about 5k on steep grades. I paid about 2200 early this year with about 300k. So far I have replaced the alt, heater hose, ac compressor, and starter.
