Can bad or clogged oil filter cause low oil pressure?

I have several issues I am working through. One is regarding low oil pressure. Can a clogged or bad oil filter cause low oil pressure on a 6.5?

Did you check the pressure with a manual gauge? I don't think the filter would cause that as there should be a relief valve to by-pass a restricted filter.

I would also doubt that it would, but when your doing your oil change crack your filter open and see what its collected. Easy to do. Right now my oil pressure gauge fluctuates, i think its more due to the fact that i do not have a Delco OPS.

For all oil filters cost why not replace it to eliminate any guesswork?
Delco, wix, napa gold are all good filters.

i would check with a real gauge, if it is low then i would lean towards a cracked main cap if you still have a 506 block, i had it happen twice, on my 99 506 block just below the glow controller on the back side of the block is a plug into the oil , its the same feed as the ops under the intake and should be able to hook up there.

i do agree though that a filter change would not hurt
