Advice on PDM Relocation

Hi Guys ,, could use some advice ,, I have a 2001 Chevy Express Van and in the process of relocating the PDM. The harness seems to be about 6 foot and length ,, so options on the location are somewhat limited. I need some advice as far as , where to install it . Under the hood area is very limited and really cannot visualize a good location for it go. I was thinking maybe to mount it inside the cab along the passenger seat lower framing and just run the wire harness under the rubber matting . Any suggestions , or pictures would be appreciated ,,

Thanks ,, DJW

Most people now mount them on the bumper behind the license plate. Anywhere out of the engine compartment will be a plus.

Thanks for the response Guys ,, if I do not have enough harness length to make it to the bumper ,, [ in which I think I don't ] would a in cab mount be acceptable.

I was thinking of drilling approx. a 1 inch hole in the engine cover box tight to the firewall , installing a rubber type gasket ,, and fish the wire harness under the matting to the passenger side seat.

I am not sure in a van but 6 ft should be enough to get all the way to the bumper in my Suburban.

O.K ,Thanks ,, Will try to go that way ,,

I already have the PDM , harness , complete kit etc. , but does know where i can buy the mounting plate that is suppose to match up to existing bolts for the bumper installation.

I just need the bracket ,, i would rather unbolt and re-bolt as opposed to drilling new holes.

IIRC, the PMDCable kit have the bolt line up with the license plate bolt. You may try it that way. Where did you get your kit?

I drilled my bumper but it has a different non stock bumper. I just got a hunk of heatsink and have somebody cut it to size for me.

All i did for mine was use one of the existing hole in my bumper where the valance would go and bolted it there. I still havent gotten around to drilling the other hole, but the heatsinc hasnt moved so i havent been worried about it
