1999 6.5L stall & code P0236

I am reposting this because I originally posted it it the wrong place - sorry. This is the first time I have posted anything. Maybe one of you moderators can link the two.
I have had this 6.5 Suburban for 15K miles or so. Bought it on EBay with 182K miles and it has been great - except it has stalled 5 times in the last 2 weeks. Just as if you turned the key off. It will immediately start and run after stalling.
The only code is P0236 and I am chasing down the vacuum problem - so far no vacuum on the orange line from the vacuum pump. Also have 13 volts at the solenoid at idle. That vacuum problem has been with me for a few months now & I don't think it is related to the stalling.
Last thing, I had an alarm system put on a couple of months ago. I am not sure if they have left a loose connection - the stalling is very intermittent.
Those are all of the clues that I can think of - any ideas where to look to solve the stalling?
I was thinking that it may be the crankshaft position sensor - do they malfunction intermittently? There is no error code displayed for it - just the P0236.
Also, the SES light has been off more than on lately.
I am going to try to attach the checklist.
Thanks

Welcome to the Place!
The FSD sounds like it's cooked, if you decide to replace it, either go with the Heath system or move a replacement out of the engine bay with an extension cable on a heat sink.

What is an FSD? Is it the same as a PMD?
I have a SM Chiller sitting on top of the engine - I assume that is where the PMD is.
If the vacuum has been out for several months, I am thinking (reading up here at this site) that maybe things got too hot under the hood. I hope I didn't damage anything else.
I am going to order a Heath TM - I am hoping not to need to spend extra $ for their MaxETork ECM, but is the ECM a replacement for a FSD? PMD?
Thanks

PMD -> Pump Mounted Driver = FSD Fuel Solenoid Driver same thing different location.

One could keep the Chiller but get it and the FSD out of the engine bay.

The vacuum problem should not contribute under hood heat, just poor performance and lot's of black smoke on acceleration.

No the MaxETork ECM would replace upgrade the existing PCM/ECM behind the glove box (12x6 inch silver box).
The PMD/FSD is about the size of a deck of cards and is black.

Send a message via MSN to Canadian 6.5

If you are calling Heath just tell him you are getting the PO236 code. Bill is great at diagnosing 6.5 problems. He will likely sell you a remote PMD kit. I was getting the same code and bought the Heath remote kit and it solved the problem for me.
