Still too much white smoke at start up

I have been having "difficult" starting problems lately with lots of white smoke present when it started. So Sunday I change the glow plugs and then ones I took out were black but looked ok since they were only a year old. This helped but I still have too much white smoke on cold starts. I have not been plugging in the block as cold in NC is about 20 F. One thing I also noticed when I changed the glow plugs, there is lots of oil coming into my upper intake and I think it is from the turbo. Is that normal? The turbo is about one year old. So much oil that it has soaked the rubber connector (the one that connects the aluminum to plastic) that is between the turbo and upper intake. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

When's the last time you addressed the air filter?

Pull the ECT connector, try another coldstart, post your results.

Oily intake is normal - cold makes it appear worse than it is.

Are you getting 12v to the plugs, even though plugs are good is the glow controller, check FAQ for glow troubleshooting
