project replacement motor...(lifes funny twists)

well, last monday we started pulling the motor out of our 1988 grumman to swap into our 3500 "rattlepuss" truck to retire the cracked pistons motor.... when we bought the grumman, we were informed that canada post had replaced the motor with a rebuilt one, low miles on it when we got it, and we put low miles on it as well.....

we had done a little investigating, and found that it was a 599 block 6.5l... well after we got it out of the grumman, the plan was to just pull the heads and replace the head gaskets, with ARP studs, and do a 5 pin "turbonator" main girdle with studs on the bottom.... well after pulling the heads we discovered that the IP on it was not the 2831-5088 we were expecting, but in fact a db2-2829-4975.... and upon further inspection(a couple of measures with our e-bay inside micrometer) it was discovered that we had a 6.2l 599 casting motor! well you can just imagine our jubilation with this turn of events... and it was indeed rebuilt, very clean inside, almost new heads, nice cross-hatching in the bores.... later today we will post up some pics of our re-gasketing job, the girdle, and of course the first block that we have fire-ringed....
