So it begins...My CUCV M1008

Well thanks to Heavyduty6.5 I have a nice NV4500 setup from a 93 with everything to put in my 86 K30/M1008. I hope it compliments the 4.56s gears and 35 inch tires. I will try to document as much of the swap as possible. After this then I am going to swap out the v belt system for Serp and install a Turbo(GM4). I hope to have it ready for the Mud races in Ellington Sept 17.
Here's the tranny I did 6 hrs of driving to get it and worth every bit of it. I plan on using the k30 Master with the 93k3500 Slave and line and either flare union it or use a compression fitting. Everything else looks pretty good. The flywheel I got is perfection made in china. I'm always leary of chinese made garbage but the PO didn't have any issue with it so I'll give it a whirl.

i bet you will probably use 1st only on rare occasions with that nv4500. had a buddy with one and he only used it when towing something heavy. love the range of that transmission and it seems very difficult to find them anymore. I was keeping an eye out for a while until my wife made it clear that she would not drive a huge truck unless it had an automatic transmission! thats an argument i will never win.

Hell i rarely use "L" on my SM465 unless i'm on a hill and i have 3.08s for gears(for now anyways). Biggest bitch is that the trans takes forever to spin down, and i don't like holding the clutch pedal down, wearing on the throwout bearing. SO then light turns green, and the trans won't shift into "L"(non-syncro) sometimes.

The tranny I am using was only used 92-93. With 4.56 gears there is not much to stand in the way of the CUCV. I go in some pretty nasty places to cut firewood and the crawl is going to be nice.

If I were you I would keep the th400 and sell the nv4500. To much work for a overdrive. If you want I will buy it off you to recoup your money.
