Black Smoke on 2007.5 LMM

I'm starting to blow black smoke using the stock setting on edge juice/attitude. It really smoked on settings 2 thru 4. I totally removed the edge and it still smokes. Regen seems to be at the same intervals as before. The truck has 75m. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks

merfost,
Did you finally get everything fixed so that the aFe would stop giving you codes???
You sure are having your issues, black smoke sometimes leads to not enough airflow and that should not be the problem.
I would check more into the dpf there could be issues with it.
I would keep the edge attitude off and try to solve the issue before you re-install it.
Do you have a scanner to see if there are any codes, if so then check for codes, write the #`s down and either go to the dealer or clear them and see if the problem goes away.
If something set off any codes from the Edge there usually will still be problems until they are cleared with a scanner or possibily after several cold starts and driving if everything is good, they might clear.
If there is a actuall issue it will come back usually before about 100miles.
I know the Edge can scan for codes if you have not already, but having a personal one for yourself is a good tool to have.

I am not getting anymore codes with the afe and no other codes. Yes, the issues just keep coming it seems. Looking at maybe getting rid of it.

I imagin now you cannot take it in to the dealer, but it might be worth it to see what is wrong.
It could be a bad injector, I don`t know for sure.
Last resort, try disconnecting the battery cables(both) for a while and see if that will help.
I know how it feels to have a vehicle that seems to constantly have issues then having to unload it with a loss of $$$.

have you had the edge updated?? still have the dpf?? the dpf can cause a lot of headaches with a tuner especially edge, more fuel, more smoke, clogged dpf?? ditch it and move on, these trucks are a lot of fun!! i use the crap out of mine and its been flawless....hang in their im sure its an easy fix!!

Could be a cracked dpf but it smokes more than in should in stock mode with the edge taken off. Do you know if a cracked dpf will cause it to smoke more than normal. At times it will blow a large puff of black smoke and then won't smoke for a couple of miles and then more comes. With the edge installed and on level 2 it smokes so bad that it covers the higway behind it. Also I just pulled a small utility trailer for about 450 miles and it started regen 3 times on one tank of fuel. Normally it will only regen about 1 time per tank. It will be going in to the dealer but every time I take it in for problems they keep it for 3 days and say NO Trouble Found and hand me a bill. I havn't found a dealer that knows there TSB's let along know how to trouble shoot a duramax. Sad
