There are really only two suspension systems offered on the 2500's.
Z-85 & Z-71
The Z-71 gets you "off road" jounce stops. Meaning the bump stops are stiffer and the shocks are a velocity sensitive design that are valved a bit different, probably stiffer as well. So a Z-85 probably rides a bit better, but you would probably not notice the difference. You'll get a HUGE improvement in the ride airing the tires down to 60 psi when you are not towing instead of the 80 psi GM sends them out with.
And the Z71 shocks are a joke!! A $50K+ truck and they put $2 shocks on it. If you want to get an idea of how your truck can really ride, get rid of them first thing. Anything is better than the stock ones. I went Bilstein's due to the buy 3 get one free deal, can't beat the price! That's my $.02 worth on the subject!! Chris
My dealer salesman told me that the turning radius is a little better and the ride might be a little improved compared to my LBZ.
Mind you, he told me this after I had bought the truck, so he had nothing to gain by telling me this. I do think that it may be a little better ride and it seems to turn a little tighter. My 285's on stock 17's actually rub the frame on the backside at full turn, maybe it's too tight.
The LMM does ride rougher than the other older trucks, think it could be due to the stiffer tires....
