LBZ buzzing noise after shutdown

When I shut down my truck there is a buzzing noise, similar to a relay chattering, that starts out faint and increases in intensity and volume for about 5-10 seconds and then it abruptly stops and a relay in the fuse block clicks. I am fairly certain that it is relay #5 labeled ECM that is clicking off at the end of the video. Ignore the actual video; I am posting it for the sound. I think the sound is coming from the top of the engine, near the turbo. You may have to click the video to link to my photobucket.

First it may help to know more about your truck with the specs and what mods you have done to it. It may help to figure it out without a lot of guessing. Is there any tuners applied to the vehicle?

But here is my normal welcome to help make to best use of this site. But please keep asking questions many here to help you out.

Welcome to Diesel Place Forum. Lots of great info here. To help you out to make the most use of the forum site here are a few things to do and use.

1. Search Tool:
The Search Tool is the most powerful feature on this site. Keeping the search text simply helps a lot on finding answers to probably the most common ask questions.

2. Search This Forum Tool:
Of course some searches produce many pages of post. One possible way to narrow your search is goto one of the many varies sections. Once in that section you will see a an option called Search This Forum. Enter your search item there and it only search in that section instead of the entire site.

3. Google Search:
Another great way to search is goto Google and search there. Many results point back to this forum site.

4. Signature Setup:
Next is fill out your Signature with your vehicle specs and mods done. Try to keep it updated as vehicle or mods change. Knowing what you have will usually get better and faster answers to your questions. You can locate this under your User CP that is located up in the tool bar of the forum site.So take some time and get this filled out. The updated info will show up in your next post.

5. Sticky Post:
Under many of the forum sections at the top are what is called Sticky Post. Lots of great info under each of them. Be sure to take a look at them to see what one can learn from them. Example in each of the Engine sections is a sticky post that contains a link to a DTC code tool. Enter your code there and learn what it is. Then you can goto a related section and search on it for best results.

6. Posting a problem and what to gather to help it go quicker:
A good thing to do first if you have a Check Engine Light is get the code or codes read first. The codes can tell what is wrong without guessing. Even if you have a Reduce Engine or any DIC display message and no CEL then still have it scanned for codes. If no code reader usually a autoparts store will read them for you but not all. Write everything down that it shows. Now if you have your own scanner and pull the P0700 code and nothing else time for a new code reader. That is the generic code off the ECM meaning the TCM has thrown some codes but the reader you have is not reading the codes off the TCM. Other info be like weather when it happened like low temperature may mean fuel gelling or if driving through snow the intake filter box may be full of snow.

Mine did something similar. It was the vane position sensor IIRC where I had my vanes set to full open at idle.

That would be my thoughts but no idea if a tuning issue or on a stock tuning.

Have you checked the clean cycle of the EGR after engine shutoff? Have not heard it that loud before. Something to check out. Keep us posted

Do you have any mods on the truck. Get a chance fill out your Signature under the USER CP and put in truck specs and mods. May help to figure out what may be wrong quicker knowing what you have.

It is the Minimum Vain position table. It has to be set to 0 in the first column, and 2.5 in the columns after (which is stock) changing this table will cause the turbo to do exactly as you describe for whatever reason.

Hope this helps,

Mitch

Like mentioned might be a bad vane position sensor. Have to use a scan tool to confirm the state it is in to see if it is out of spec. I do beleive there is a recalibration procedure for it as well.
