Black smoke, no power, no boost

Truck was fine all day driving. Stopped at the store to pick up a few things. Started it up and check engine light is on. Started to drive won't go. Lots of black smoke no boost on my gauge. It has done this a couple times this winter. The other times took it out on the highway and floored it and started working again. Not this time. Checked codes, says turbo under boost. Is the turbo shot or is there something else. 2007 LBZ GMC Stock. 150K miles. If it is turbo what am iI looking at for cost to replace? Thanks !!

First thing to check is the air filter. It might have gotten damp and then frozen up while it was sitting there in the parking lot. That would cause a suffocation of the engine and there would be no air to make boost with. This would also cause the black smoke as the truck is trying to make power but the fuel being put into the engine is too much for the amount of air that is getting into the engine. This would mean that it is running real rich and that makes black smoke. Or if you have any snow up there it might have been enough for the filter to get plugged up.

If there is a filter minder gauge on your intake plumbing, check it and see if it indicates a plugged air filter.

Another possible reason is if one of your intercooler hoses has come off of the fittings. This would make for a no boost condition and cause the same kind of problems.

Here I am telling people to fill out their signature so that their truck info is available and I haven't done it yet! Well DUH!

I have had the truck just over 2 years now. 2006 GMC 2500HD CCLB 4WD LBZ 150000 miles about, I have replaced a/c condenser, one rubber fuel line, rebuilt the filter head, and am getting ready to replace the other lines on top of the engine. The fuel line by the transmission is the one replaced, during the winter. Replaced belt, idler pulleys and tensioner. Whoever designed the front of this thing needs to change the belt on every one of the bloody things! U-joints

Also have to replace speakers in the doors and repair or replace seat covering on the drivers side. All in all a good truck. Also have to replace the dip tube in the tank so I can use the full capacity of the tank.

Where do I find this hose? I'll check the filter, but I just replaced it the last time I changed oil about a month ago. Thanks

Checked all hoses and filter all ok. I did notice when I got home and tried to let the engine cool down on my gauge and it did not. Stayed at 400 and never dropped after 5 min still at 400. Normally it takes 2 min or so and its down to 250.

Ive had my S&B intake blow off on the underside near the intake elbow. Looking at it from above it appears as if everything is normal, but if you run your hand around it you can feel its sucking air beneath it. Since this is after the MAF it will cause a very similar situation, no boost, lots of smoke, CEL's.

Started it up this morning, ran for a minute and started chugging and the whole truck was shaking. white smoke than black. Managed to back it out of the garage and it died. Towed this morning on a flat bed. Have not heard what the problem is.
