Do I have an LLY or LBZ?

Can anybody tell me how to identify the engine in my new to me 2006 Chevy 3500 DRW? I don't know if it has the LLY or LBZ package - all I know is that is has insane power compared to my old truck. Thanks

check the 8th digit of the vin or check the glove box, there will be a code saying which engine you have

Easier way -- look at the emblem on the door. If it says "DURAMAX Diesel" it's an LLY. If it says "Allison DURAMAX" it's an LBZ.

8th digit of the vin will tell you.
if it's a "2" it's a lly
if it's a "D" it's a LBZ
