Just returned from 2nd trip to the dealer. Results of the 1st trip was replacement of one glowplug (#7), the GPCM had been upgraded and #4 glowplug had been replaced, and a bill for $199.02!! The service rep said this was not covered under warranty. Two weeks later I returned; with my warranty book and a copy of the TSB I got from this forum; for another CEL. (#1 glowplug) I came home with 8 new glowplugs, a check for $99.02, and lots of apologies.

I took my truck to independant mechanic, something that I will do more research on next time. The truck was left overnite so it could be diagnosed cold. The mechanic calls at 9:30 and asks me if I feel lucky. He says it is #2 glowplug and his service manager friend says warranty won't cover glow plug. He is preparing to remove but says they are very prone to breaking off which would require head removal. I tell him to hold up because I know glow plug is covered, to which he says that he will check again and call me right back. I am on a boat fishing and calling mechanic about every 15 minutes with no answer. 4 hours later he calls and says truck is ready. #2 glow plug was replaced and he says dealership said if anything had gone wrong that they would have towed and finished under warranty. I paid $173 and left feeling lucky and pissed. Any reccomendations for a good dealership or indie in treasure coast area would be greatly appreciated.

Im thinking from your statement that you are working in service at a dealer also. There is alot of shaddy areas at a dealer when it comes to warranty parts and repairs. All I can say relating to this thread and this concern is that when you have a concern for glow plugs and the codes listed in this thread if you dont replace all 8 plugs chances are it is going to come back and bite you in the ass. In the flat rate world you dont take chances like that its all about "CYA". GM is aware of problems with the glow plugs, I cant even think about how many sets i have replaced. I can tell you how many come backs I have had due to another glow plug failure after replacement of all 8 though. ZERO...

I have a Question, if the trouble Code is P0673 does this mean that Glow Plug #3 is the bad one. I am thinking of replacing it myself. Although i have no experience with Diesels. I Love my truck and can't afford to screw it up right now. So any advice you folks could give me would be greatly appreciated.

If my #8 had a reading of more than 1ohm then they would have done all 8. Can anyone help me with this (duramax 33)? Is he correct on this, did he just find this because I showed him the TSB#?

Thank you.
Maybe I'm missing something here so bare with me...If the #8 was "open", its resistance would be "infinity". Infinity>1 ohm. Seems to me they should have replaced all 8.
