Benefits of a EGR Blocker plate

What are the benefits of added a EGR blocker plate? I have seen the comments about reducing carbon in the intake, are there other benefits such as MPG? Does it cause the emgine to warm up slower with the blocker plate?

I am considering installing one.

Keeps your intake much cleaner without soot going back into the engine. For me no better milage or performance gain. Hopefully engine longevity

people "say" that you wont be able to build any more bost than about 25 psi without a blocker plate. because the valve jsut blows open with anymore manifold pressure. i myself havent been able to test this yet, because im still with out the plate too

I saw no change in milage when I did mine. Just trying to clean up the intake.

If you leave the EGR unblocked..at some point the intake will become so coked up as to render it useless...There have been a few posts here showing an intake with only 35-40K miles and it was very noticeable. As well..many report EGR valve itself having issues over time..all the result of soot. Why put soot into your motor..? Cant help the engine.

As for mileage..saw nadda. As for longetivity - well, I'm all over that. If you do block, suggest ya "fingerstick" it as well.

cheers,

stk

Find the thread with the pics of all the crap built up in the intake and you won't need any other reason.

Anyone happen to have a link to that thread? I find it impossible to find anything through the search feature on this site, in under three hours anyway.

Advanced search: Titles only : "egr pics"

Pics of EGR and intake

Learn to use it and you'll love it. I always search titles only. Try a variation of a word if you dont get it at first. My next choice would have been "egr install".
