LBZ Longevity

Hello! I am wondering what the life expectancy of a LBZ engine/Allison transmission is from a performance standpoint...I found a 2006 GMC truck with about 150,000km(90,000 miles) on it...it's obviously cheaper than the ones out there with 100,000km(60,000 miles) or less on them but if I bought the truck and started to upgrade it, would it be something that would be more of a headache than the savings are worth? The truck seems to be in pretty good shape...obviously highway miles to get to 150,000(90,000) in a couple yrs. Is this an acceptable starting point for a performance build? Or should I look for a lower mileage truck?

As long as the truck was maintained well and was not beat on is should be in great condition. Did the last owner run a programmer? What was this truck used for? How old was the last owner? Give us some details on the truck. The most miles I've seen so far on a 06 LBZ/Alli was just shy of 300k. So they definitly last a long time but you need to know the history on the truck when buying it used.

Wow, thats a broken in Duramax. I got mine with 79,800 miles on it and thought that was a decent amount for an '06.

It has been very trouble free

14533 the rearend went out, lost a seal leaked the oil snapped the axle. covered under waranty

Replaced the stock clutch with a double disk at 114,000 I knew that was coming when I bought it

Right now I have the steering knock, and I am replacing the heater motor resistor today.

Otherwise, normal maintenance

What about the P0087 issue you had awhile back?
