2006 Duramax Smoking?

I have a 2006 2500hd with about 9000 miles that was getting around 16-17 mpg. now if the truck idles for about 10 minutes before l start driving it smokes for a few minutes as l drive. the fuel mileage seems to have gotten alittle worse. other than that everything is ok. Any ideas?

I notice the same thing, after idleing for 15- 20 minutes last weekend then I drove off. The 1st traffic light I came to, the truck started smoking for like 30 seconds then went away. Maybe the fuel loads up of something and needs to be burnt off?? Thats the only thing I can think about??

Mine does the same thing. All I can think is that it gets some build up.

Mine smoked for just a bout 15 seconds after I was cruising down the hiway at 75mph for about 3 hours, got off the hiway, stopped at a stop sign, when I pulled away , that is when it smoked. Havent seen it smoke since though.......

I guess it depends on how long it continues to smoke and if this behavior is different than the past history. There may be an issue with an injector if this is not the normal behavior you have observed in the past.

Try adding Stanadyne fuel additive for a couple of tanks. Sticking injectors was an issue with the LLY's and this was the recommendation from GM. Also, do you know anyone in your area with a scan tool that can check you injector balance rates?

You might want to add your location to display under your user name and add signiture information. There may be a member nearby with scan tool who can scan the truck for codes and check the balance rates.
