LLY vs. LBZ Compare

I just bought a 2006 2500HD Silverado with the LLY engine. The truck was built in Sept '05, but I could not pass it up. Wanted to be a Duramax owner. I'm confused about the post on the webcite about the comparison of the two different engines. Is the LLY just a carry over from 2005? And is the LBZ the only engine with the lower compression, beefier block, modified heads, etc?

The 2006 LLY is NOT a carryover 2005 engine. It is very different from the 2004.5 - 2005 LLY's.

The only difference between the 2006 LLY and the 2006 LBZ is ECM programming. The 2006 LLY contains all other enhancements found in the LBZ.

Would have made more sense to call the 2006 LLY....LBZ, if it's actually closer to a LBZ than it is a pre 2006 LLY.

Coming from somebody that paid the extra money for the LBZ. It would be nice to know where the casting numbers for the blocks are so this can be put to rest.

Reading another thread along these lines, it was pointed out that the only part number that's different for the two motors, is the ECM.

so what you guys are saying is that I can get an LBZ ECM and have the same engine package? seems to me that if it was that easy than a lot of people would have done that already.
