6.0 MPG Improvement
I have a 2007 2500HD with a 6.0 and I am getting around 10 MPG or so. I have 373 rear ends. I had a 1500 with a 5.3L before this. I am not very impressed with the 6.0 engine. Is there anything that I can do to increase the MPG and make the truck tow with more power? I mean it is not a dog, but it is not burning up with power either. I would like to upgrade to a 285 tire, but afraid to do so (power loss and decreased MPG). Would a cold air intake or one of those modules that goes through the MAF to mix the fuel/air ratio help (or are they junk?)Thanks in advance for any help!

jwolfe3 - is that 10mpg both city/highway? I just bought a 2011 HD with the 6.0 and I am getting 15 on the Highway and 12.5 in the city. This is way different than my 06 Duramax that was totalled. I would have gone with another Diesel but starting at 52K wasn't in my budget. I was thinking of 285's like my old truck but I do not want to give up my mileage also. Do you or have you towed with your truck yet? If so what size trailer are you towing?

What can I expect from this, speed or pulling power? I am more interested about torque and pulling power out of it than top end speed. Has anyone ever did a dyno to see how much increase that you gain over stock? I am not doubting anything in any way, I just never dealt with anything like this before...Thanks again everyone!!!!

I tow a 13k fifth wheel with my 01 Gasser 6.0 and it did okay. Wont win races but will hold 65 on highway fine. Hills slow you down a little but it gets the job done.

mycirus- have you done any mods to your truck? How big are the hills that you go up and how fast were you going? I don't want to get a programmer because it will void your warranty.
Thanks

My gasser is an 01. No mods except a flowmaster muffler. The hills around here are not mountains. Just gradual grades. Slows down to about 50-55 then you speed up again when it levels out. I tow a 33 foot Kountry Star.
