I have an 08 2500HD with the 6.0L. Last year after pulling my trailer through the mountains my dealer had to put in new rear differential. Apparently there was a lack of oil in it from the factory and the gears overheated and needed to be replaced.
Over the winter the truck has been used sparingly but now I am noticing a noise which I don't think was there before. I notice it the most when driving around town. If I let off the gas and start to slow down I hear a distinctive whining noise. If I apply even just a little gas pedal the whining noise stops.
I am not sure if this is normal or whether I am just paranoid after my problem with the rear end.
Any idea what this might be and whether I need to get it checked?
