cummins/powerstroke allison adapters

for those of you looking to install an allison behind your cummins or powerstroke check out this link they seem to look good, they also have adapters/flexplates for chevy/cummins conversions as well.http://www.transmissioncenter.org/cu...bt_adapter.htm

An adapter is great, BUT, I don't think anyone has figured out how to get around the electronics.

A few guys have used EFI LIVE and a stock GM controller and got them to shift OK, but they haven't got all of the bugs worked out. PCS has been working on there controller as well, but they don't have it available yet. The last I read on here from IAN about the SUBURBAN GORILLA was that it was shifting, but there were some glitch's in the shift pattern and wouldn't always change gears. On PCS's website they talk about how the ALLISON uses a variable signal to shift there transmission, and it is a difficult signal to replicate.

GM built the duramax and allison together so getting allisons to work with other inferior engines will take lots of time and money.

For not even having a duramax you seem to be one of its biggest cheerleaders.

not trying to start any sh**. but the older 5.9s 12 valve, and 24 vavle are are the king at the track, and i'm sure they have gone the most miles without any major problems,ya it's old technology and their trans suck's and they are very loud but, they will hold the most boost, take the most beating, and get the best fuel mileage.i don't really want one in my chev but,the whole engine from a salvage yard in good condition would cost no more or not much more than a set of injector's installed at the dealer.if i had to bone out for injectors a few times i would be lookin hard at the dino engine.i am not selling my ford,it's my beater truck, and if i could change out the trans to the alli,i could get it done for only alittle more than a good 4r100 cost.otherwise i will pay the $4200. for a good 4r100 trans.thank's for the input guy's,it's not an optoin for someone like me yet.i need somebody to have it all worked out,so i will wait and see how long it takes for my trans to become unhappy.

even though its claimed to be "perfected", I still have my doubts about a cummins/ally conversion that works as flawlessly as it does when mated to a duramax.

The PCS controller will never be released because it flat out doesnt work. Jumping into reverse on the highway and randomly applying all the clutchpacks at once is their translation of "is working great, and in development, however there are a still a few minor glitches that we need to work out".

My own stupid oppinion: keep the ctd mated to a dodge trans and build up the trans with billet everyting. It will be bulletproof and is much better suited to drag racing than the allison. And if you tow with a ctd and cant stand the fact that the 48re is terrible at towing, buy a manual ctd.
