6.4 Powerstroke review

I forgot to post that on Saturday I drove a brand new 2008 F250 SUPER CAB 6.4 POWERSTROKE. To start I love the look of the truck inside and out. I also like the tow command and the tail gate step. The 6.4 I felt is pretty noise, sounds more like my buddy 04 LLY Duramax. Power felt like my 02 7.3 powerstroke, I was more imprested with my 04 6.0 powerstroke. Overall my 06 LLy duramax would blowwwwwww the doors of this thing. O yea ride was very stiff.

first of all its a powerstroke so of course its gonna be noisy. i drove one today and must say it has some giddy up. there is hardly any turbo lag. but once again i will agree solid front axle=stiff ride.

They just do not have that diesel "I want to pull a house down" torque feeling. Kind of reminded me of a shop truck we got in 99 that had the 4.7 v8, it scooted along great, until you loaded it up. One thing they do have going for them, the F450 pick-up and the fact it will be hard to screw it as bad as they did with the 6.0!!

I drove a new 6.4 and 6.0, there nothing compared to the 7.3. Ride hard good, means you got a solid front axle and stiff springs, good for hauling what these trucks are made for.

Drove a 6.4L yesterday. Did yah'll notice a funny sounding turbo "bark" when you rolled out of a hard acceleration. And it didn't "bark" imediately, took it 6+ seconds after I rolled out of the throttle.

Checked out the Ford the other day also, I have to say while Chevy changes sheet metal every few years, Ford just seems to perfect the Super Duty. I had to install the new Chevy tow mirrors, bigger Fuel tank, and soon the back up sensors, all the while Ford has had this for years just tweaking, what they already have. Don't like the Super Duty embedded in the grill, looks dumb on a otherwise sweet ride.

I think if the new engine has a better introduction then the 6.0, and the new Regeneration smog stuff, turns out to be a non issue, this will be the truck to beat. The new Chevy is just down right ugly, had an 01, and it looked sweet, these new ones look like those wide eyed girls, you know the ones with their eyes next to their ears.

GMC still looks sweet, have an 03, and with the prices they are asking for the new trucks, looks like I will keep it for awhile, but the front ends don't hold up if you Tow alot, Pitman and Idler arms shot at 80,000 miles, but its paid for. Next time around Ford and GMC will get my attention, to bad Dodge can't pony up a decent size crew cab with a long bed.
