5 speed stuck in 3rd

Hey all , its been awhile since I needed anything, but here it goes. Little background of my truck: 05 GMC dually, 249,xxx miles, trans was rebuilt at 75,000 miles with a transgo and a good Z-pack clutch. All has been perfect for 5 years and 175,000. Driving home the other day and it will not shift out of 3rd. Throws code 700 (generic trans code), 1621(control module long term memory) and 776(solonoid B stuck off). I shut the truck off for a couple minutes and all was fine for a while. That was 2 weeks ago and it keeps happening more and more each time I drive it. I was just curious on what everybody thought it would be. I got a couple things in the back of my head, but wanted some more opinions. Sorry for the novel and thank you in advance

No that don't sound good. That was the last thing on my mind. I was thinking ignition switch or a bad ground maybe. If something was broken tho, wouldn't it be stuck in 3rd forever? If I shut the truck off for a couple minutes its fine. The tranny already has good cluthes in it and I never beat on it hard so I have a hard time thinking that the trannys is smoked. Also, when I tried to put my factory backup tune in, it keeps telling meits unable to restore it and won't let me put any other tune in either? Makes me think something electrical? I don't know, but if the trannys smoked AGAIN i will not be thrilled.

What does your fluid look, smell, feel and taste like? Pull the spin on filter off and check the magnet for the feel. Your on your own about the taste. If all is well there, it may not be time to panic yet.

Fluid looks and smells fine, didn't taste it because I enjoy antifreeze better haha. I'm pretty sure its electrical, cuz its fine sometimes and it don't slip a bit. I'm leaning towards the TCM, only because of the fact it won't let me load a different tune, and I cannot control certain things with my Tech 2, like making it shift. I'm not really worried bout the clutches cuz like I said they are good aftermarket and they have never been slipped.

Just reading what the manual states. If fluid is good. Good chance clutches are good. Maybe speed sensors( including loose or damaged tone wheel), sticking trimmer valves, B solenoid or wiring? Some things to look at.

Got a little update for everyone. I dropped my pan to check out the A and B solenoids and trim valves. Not very much clutch dust in there so my clutches are fine. I ohmed out both solonoids and the check at 5.5, right where they should be. Pulled the transgo trim valves out and cleaned everything up. New filter and fluid. It still wants 2 slip when it goes into 4th but if I back off the gas and let it slide in it will go. Still throws 776 and now I got a 746. I was able to restore the factory backup with my Predator, only after I put my stock radio back in. Also, my tech 2 seems 2 work better now. Has anyone ever heard of an aftermarket radio adapter causing these types of issues? I'm almost out of ideas. Beginning to think I have a TCM issue?

At first you had a 776 that pointed to B solenoid. After disturbing A & B solenoids resting place, you still have the 776 and now a 746 which points to the A solenoid. Is it possible they are leaking?
Just thinking out loud I guess. But earlier you stated the clutches were not slipping and now they slip when trying to shift to 4th. The A solenoid controls the on coming, off going and holding pressure of the clutches.
As far as the TCM, in my opinion anything electronic can quit at will. My TCM went out, but when it did it tripped a lot of DTC's.
It's been a long time since I've worked on these, so all I'm doing is thumbing through the manual and trying to make an educated guess. Feel free to correct me.
