2001 trans problems
Ok to start off truck has 200,000 on it, 5 speed allison, I was driving it Friday all ok, stopped at the store went back out and the trans was slipping and when it downshifts between 2nd and 1st it feels like someone has run into the back of my truck. It seems like it is idling fast, the wait to start light stays on longer even when engine is warm, this all happened when I parked at the store. I took it to the trans guy he reset the trans and told me it would have to relearn how I drive. Well it stopped slipping but it still hits extremly hard when it shifts from 2nd to 1st. Anybody have any ideas ?

did you hit the tow/haul switch my 06 shifts hard from 2nd to 1st when in tow/haul

When was the last time you changed your fuel filter?

transmission "bump" when coming to a stop... Post #4. Slip joint might need a little grease also, what cab/bed configuration is your truck?

First things first, change your fuel filter. That should be done every 10-15k miles.
Like Gunrok stated, remove your drive line and grease the splines. They get dry over time and can cause that "pop" feeling when slowing down or accelerating.

With it getting colder, ie...winter onsetting, now would be a fine time to ensure that the fluid level is sufficient.
