allison wont shift

I have a 06 duramax with the 6sp allison. It will only shift up to 4th then i have to be going 55 to hit 5th and 75 to go into 6th. The only codes i have are the num 7 glow plug and p0181, P0116. Any suggestions would be helpful. There were no codes for the trans.

Update, I drove it today and it only shifts at 2500 rpm through 5th gear, almost like its stuck in tow/haul. could this be a filter issue? Any help?
Also this is completely stock, I haul my boat around the state in the summer which is 9500 lbs

That is a fuel temp and engine temp code..Must be really cold up there..I did a search on google for those codes and found alot of info..Did not take time to check it out other than for what the codes were..Do a search and you should find a fix..

I did pull those codes up, the idiot light has been on for about a month. Im fighting with the dealer to get them to warranty the glow plugs, truck only has 90000 miles. The trans just started acting up 2 days ago. I changed the screw on filter today, and it didnt clean it up. I was reading on here about it maybe being a fuel filter problem. There were no codes for the transmission. Thanks for the input

On saturday 15 degress here in n.j. truck drove like it was in tow/haul, but it wasn't. turned truck off. restarted 30mins later, wouldn't shift up past 4th gear and check engine light stays on. Drove it to the dealer yesterday and left it there, couldn't go over 45mph, shifted hard and kind of weird. Dealer called and said the had 2 codes, engine overtemp and tcm. Said they have to start with those repairs and go from there. Fortunatley i bought the gm extended warranty, $100 deductible and they provide rental car and towing if needed.

my truck has 32,000 miles on it. dealer serviced trans about a 2 months ago, and changed a trans coolant line 1 month ago. I baby the sh*t out of this truck, its been to the dealer more times than i would like for a $40,000 truck that is not even paid off yet.

Got it back today, all they did was reprogram with an update. Hard to believe that every thing was corrected without replacing a physical part. I have to say, on the the 20 mile trip home it ran smoother than it did before this all happened.

The shift pattern you are seeing is normal with a P0116 set in the ECM. Because the ECM has a fault, certain information can't be trusted so the TCM switches to this shift pattern to be safe until the ECM malfunction is corrected.
