4-wheel drive on hard pavement and towing
I pulled my fifth wheel camper down the highway yesterday. 15 minutes down the road, I turned into a gas station and noticed the steering felt funny, then while turning in the parking lot, it felt like the brakes were on while turning.
Then I realized it was in 4-wheel drive. I put it back into 2 -wheel drive and everything seems fine. Did i cause possible issues while towing on hard pavement for that short time?

I seriously doubt it. Many people have done the exact same thing, but over a much longer distance.

I wouldn't worry about it, one morning I had left my truck in 4wd over night. The next morning I was backing out my driveway at about 10mph and turn square to the right and the truck stopped. I didn't know what happened but discovered it was in 4wd, this was about a week ago and so far everything is fine.

I accidently did the same thing with my toy hauler in tow leaving the desert before when I briefly needed 4wd. I towed on the highway for about 80 miles at highway speeds before I saw the little orange light. I have put on many more towing miles since and have seen no adverse affects. Did use more fuel on that trip home though. As others pointed out to me then these trucks have sensors on everything and one will go off before you damage anything.... usually, and I saw no lights.

It is not an issue, just probably got really crappy mileage.

Would be nice to have an idiot light in the guage cluster to indicate your in 4WD. Towed my 5th wheel home Saturday and discovered I was in 4WD when I tried to back into the driveway. The poor fuel mileage made sense then and fears of damage gone now that I found this thread. Thinking I may do a fluid change just for giggles

Been there - done that.
I was getting this shudder on the highway when I tried to go under heavy acceleration or speeds above 60 mph. Thought I had a drive shaft issue. Pulled over - driver's side wheel well was covered with diff fluid. Apparently, the oil got super hot and went out some overflow/vent (don't pretend to know what). Front end shop said they see it from time to time. Shut it off and had no side effects. Got home, changed the gear oil, no metal on the magnet - everything works fine.

The front and rear gears are the same, so in a straight line other than milage and a SLIGHT sluggishness you'd never know.
It's the turning that causes the problems and that's when you realize its in 4 wheel drive.
