I seem to remember a post by H&S a while back about the issue maybe when edge originally came under fire about this issue. If I remember correctly it talked about H&S's good standing with the govt due to using their products on govt vehicles and equipment that did not need to make on road emission requirements but had lmm engines. And at the time it made me feel like H&S would be able to avoid problems like this. This will definitely drive the demand for EFILive for th
e newer trucks and the need for people to want to learn to tune their own trucks using it as eventually this will be the only way to delete dpf bc EFILive V2 will be sold as the great scan/tune tool that it is without the intention or instruction to use it to delete dpf but the user will have the capability. Or if they do make them take that feature out of it a crack for the software will be easy enough to be developed and distributed. At least until the govt takes over the Internet too. This is definitely getting ridiculous and going to far.

Makes me so happy that I drive a '98 K2500 Suburban with the trusty old L65 6.5 IDI diesel! NO pollution junk, just a good, clean tune in the OBD-II and the ability to happily run on B100 in the tank for fuel, if need be, with no ill side effects.
As for EPA bashing, I'd rather have it the way it is now, than the way it was when I was a kid back in '70 when we had rivers catching on fire, acid rain eating away at the marble statues and monuments in the cities along the Eastern Seaboard, Bald Eagles nearly going extinct from DDT, that brown crud (smog) that passed for air in the LA basin killing over 1000 people a year from respiratory disease, or companies allowed to dump whatever they wanted where ever they wanted with no recourse for their actions and thus having situations like Love Canal, NY. I don't know about you "stock up on ammo, blame Obama" wackos, but I for one don't believe in shitting in the pot I eat out of, do you? Or do you all enjoy a big, fat shit sandwich for lunch? Or, if you must thump on the Bible, go back and reread Genesis (preferably in the original Hebrew, not a sixth or seventh generation retranslation, politically edited over the centuries to fit some religious point of view). We were kicked out of Eden because we failed to take care of it, and evidently some of the human species has STILL failed to learn that lesson to this day. So who are the REAL serpents today? Those who are striving to preserve the habitability of the only planet we ALL have to live on, or those selfish SOB's who have the attitude that they can do whatever they want to this planet, whether it's strip mining toxic tarsands that should be left in the ground in the first place, irreparably contaminating the very limited fresh water that we ALL have to use on this planet, or slowly baking this planet to death with the emissions we dump into the very thin and fragile atmosphere - and don't care if it's their neighbor they're harming, or their own children, because the greed runs deep in them? Despite the DPF's and other mandated emissions equipment we, as a diesel community, should be PROUD of the fact that our vehicles burn cleaner than their gas counterparts, make more power, get better fuel mileage, and if the manufacturers unplant their faces from Big Oil's asses, will be able to do so using clean, green, renewable biofuels into the foreseeable future. Now I'll step down off my soap box and return to this thread. Legitimate R&R WILL produce the "better mouse trap" in improved DPF's, tunes, etc to allow our vehicles to meet emissions regulations and increase their performance and mileage, too. Those who refuse to participate on a level playing field, playing by the rules established, should be removed from the game, so to speak. |

I would rather burn 50 gallons of "slightly less clean diesel" than 60 gallons of "clean diesel". I'm sure they factor in all the equipment and such used to extract and refine the extra fuel too. Yup, burning more fuel saves the environment
![]() Certainly the EPA has an important role, but it has overstepped it's intended purpose in my opinion.

Never bought a late 07 new because I seen all this coming. Got a low mileage early 07 LBZ instead. Do they seem to be cracking down on the non catalytic and EGR deletes of early generations?

I agree with a lot of what you are saying, but.... Quote:
You rail against oil companies and diesel hot rodders while you are driving an 8000 lb four wheel drive truck with 20 year old emissions reduction technology that you have both circumvented and referred to as "junk" in the same sentence. Time for google. hyp·o·crite noun \ˈhi-pə-ˌkrit\ Definition of HYPOCRITE 1: a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings This reminds me of James Cameron. Criticizes oil producers regularly, which is 100% fair game, but while filming his blockbuster epics he maintains a football field full of diesel generators running 24/7 to power his equipment right in the middle of ecologically sensitive areas. Enough power to run a small city, but he recoils quietly when asked about its carbon footprint. ![]() .

Preaching what you preach here falls on deaf ears. And if you think that gassers getting tuned pollute any less...you'd be wrong, again. You need an electric car, which has a much larger carbon footprint than our even our 8000 lb diesel trucks.
