how hard is EFI live to use?

like it says, im thinking of getting a V2 , just for removing the DPF and EGR from the ECM.
i have a couple people that have the 07+ trucks that are off warranty and want it gone. so if i can pay for all the EFI live stuff by doing a couple trucks that would be great.
no power up grades, no other changes to factory tune.

Doing simply DPF and EGR delete is pretty simply with no power changes. Just mostly selecting those systems and turning them off and disabling the varies related DTCs codes so they don't pop up.

Here is what I suggest you do. In the EFILive section (not the post you are in now) you will see a button called Search This Forum. Hit it and search for ' LMM EGR Delete ' and or ' LMM DPF Delete ' or ' LMM DPF Tuning '. This will only search the EFILive section post. So no need to add EFILive to the search string.

Now I suggest you download EFILive V7.5 software from EFILive and install it. It will run in Demo mode. Without the Flashscan hardware it wont do much else. Now download a stock LMM tune from the library and look at it. See the DPF and EGR sections as well as Diagnotic Trouble Code section. Also there is some LMM tunes that are DPF deleted in the modified LMM section. If you read the sticky post on scripts you can create a script that shows the differences so all you do then is look at the differencs between the two and learn some that way.

Next I suggest you purchase from one of the well known tuners here. This way you can get a tune or two free the way you want it. But I dont believe in giving a tuners tune away. It is not right to do. So if you were to use the tune on someone elses truck I would say you need to compensate the tuner for that tune. It is only fair and correct to do. I have only dealt with Nick from DuramaxTuner so if you like to tune yours and a few others he may work out a deal for you.

Last EFILive comes with the ability to tune 2 different ECM/TCM vehicles. Any additional vehicles requires a purchase of another license at a cost of $99. You can tune up to 255 ECM/TCM setups if you buy licenses for the other 253. Getting a license is easy to do online. Also once a license is used it cannot be restored. The ECM is not locked unless you lock it with the Flashscan V2. So if you sell the truck and return it to stock you still will not get your license back. So if buy another vehicle to tune you will need to buy a license for it.

Any other questions just ask.

Um, WOW lol thank you very much, that info is awesome!
really all i am wanting to do is turn off the DPF and the regen, and all related codes. nothing more.
i have a couple people that want it done to there trucks, but most places around are charging anywhere from 1000+ to remove the filter and tune truck.
so instead of sending people away, i may as well help them out.
Thanks again. your info was very helpful!

Nick use to or still does have some tutorials on his site to do DPF and EGR delete only tuning. If may now be under is section that sells a tune library. Not sure on that but check his site out.

1000 plus for tuning and labor to remove the DPF and DOC, and install a turbo back exhaust. All parts included?
If so that may not be too bad. I say $400 roughly for a turbo back exhaust, $99 for a license, labor for tuning and demo and installation. That may be a bit but this would give you an idea what the basic cost is for a setup like that. Of course if they bought stream licenses for their Flashscan they can run up to over $2000 for just one ECM like just for the LMM. Then another stream license just for the LBZ ECM. Same for the different TCMs too. So it can get pretty expensive.

i think its just for a tune and to remove the DEF filter, not the full exhaust.
i know full exhaust plus install is close to the $1000 mark at some place's.
im going to look into the total cost of exhaust and the V2 and see what i will beable to do the job for.
thanks for all the help

Just saw an article in a diesel magazine stating the availability of EFI live tutorial on CD or perhaps on DVD for $70.00 from EDGE.
