Market Place Ad Rules
Read and understand the following rules and suggestions for the Market Place before you list an ad, commit to buying, browse or use in any way the
Market Place:
Listing "For Sale" Items

Help us keep the Market Place organized and make it a safe trading environment for the community by following these rules:

  • One item per ad. If you have multiple different items to sell please create separate ads for each. If you have more than one of a single item just note the quantity in your ad so long as they are all being sold for the same price each.
  • All ads must have an asking price. "OBO" (Or Best Offer) is allowed ALONG with an asking price, but a price MUST be listed. If you are giving away the product simply enter "FREE" as the price.
  • All ads also require a shipping price. If it's included in the price type "Included." If you'll only charge actual charges based on shipping location type "Actual." If the item is only available for local pickup type "Local." All others type "See Description" and make sure you define your shipping terms within the item description.
  • The zip code of the location of the item is required.
  • Limited offsite listings allowed. If you choose to list the ad here please provide all of the information (pictures, description, price, etc.) here. Our users are browsing our Market Place to conduct transactions through our site.
    • Classified ad listings (such as Craig’s List) - allowed, though not in the market place as a primary ad
    • Auction listings (such as eBay) - allowed, though not in the market place as a primary ad
      • Individual listings are OK
      • eBay store listings are NOT OK
  • The item must be in your possession and your personal property. You are not allowed to sell an item for a friend, relative, family member, or ex-girlfriend.
  • The sale of firearms and ammunition is prohibited. This is due to differing laws from state to state and the difficulties in transferring ownership of a firearm. The sale of gun accessories (scopes, magazines, etc.) is permitted.
  • The sale of services is prohibited. Only tangible items may be sold through the Market Place.
  • Vendors/dealers (supporting or non-supporting) are prohibited from selling NEW items/products in the Market Place. This includes both listing For Sale ads and responding privately to Wanted ads. The intent of the Market Place is to allow members and vendors to sell used products and allow non-vendor members to sell single new products that weren't used as planned. Vendors are permitted to sell any used product/item including any items the vendor would also sell new during the course of business.
  • New-in-box item ads with a quantity of more than one must be approved by the staff.
  • Bumping is permitted once every 48 hours by the ad owner only. Be considerate to other users; they deserve the right to the first page as much as you. Answering a question from another user is considered a bump though you may answer a question anytime one arises.
  • Close your ad once it's been sold. It will be moved to the Closed Ad section within one hour automatically. This reduces the amount of time members spend searching through open ads and it makes the ad available for feedback. Visit this link for more information on closing your ad.
  • Ads are closed automatically if there has not been a post within the last 30 days. This is done to keep ads current.
Listing & Buying Members
  • Access and use of the Market Place is at your own risk. Diesel Place and its staff DO NOT and CANNOT GUARANTEE in any way the outcome of a transaction that results through the use of our Market Place.
  • Check your private messages often.
  • It is suggested that pricing and negotiations should take place within the thread and not privately. This helps keep a public record of the transaction details in case of dispute down the road.
  • Should the outcome of a transaction be less than desirable please attempt to resolve the situation privately. If you are unable to resolve the problem leave negative feedback for the user. Do not contact the staff. We are unable to mediate transaction disputes though we monitor negative feedback and act on patterns.
  • Posting in any forum other than the Member Feedback forum regarding a transaction dispute is NOT ALLOWED.
  • It is up to you to research and make an informed decision on the person you are buying from or selling to should you choose to proceed with a transaction.
  • Leave feedback once the transaction is complete.
Browsing Members
  • If you make a comment on an ad it needs to be on the topic of the ad. Negative or off topic comments will be removed. While conversation is permitted it needs to remain on the topic of the listed item. Off topic comments include: great price; that's too much; wish I could afford these; maybe next time; and anything else that isn't asking or answering a question about the item or sale.
  • If you have a similar item for sale, post an ad. Don't post about it in someone else's ad. If you already have an ad, don't post in someone else's with a link to yours.
  • We require all users to have a minimum of twenty-five posts and a minimum one-month membership to post in the Market Place. This gives new users time to familiarize themselves with the forum, our members, and to build a reputation. Our forum software enforces this rule automatically and the staff is not able to make exceptions. Senseless posting anywhere on the forum to increase your post count is cause for permanent banning from the Market Place. A little useful participation in the technical forums will quickly gain you the ability to post in the Market Place. You can still browse the ads and contact ad owners privately; you just can't create your own ads
The staff reserves the right to delete any ad or post for any reason including failure to follow any of the above listed rules. Repeat offenses may result in temporary or permanent banning from the Market Place and/or forum.

Market Place Feedback Rules
  • Do not leave feedback until the transaction is complete. Make sure the money has cleared and the product has been received and inspected.
  • If you're not a party to the transaction do not leave feedback for it. We'll catch it and you'll loose your Market Place privileges. This includes "test" feedback.
  • Do not leave feedback if the transaction did not go through or the other person changed their mind. Product and funds must have been exchanged for feedback to be applicable unless you are leaving negative feedback due to not receiving either.
  • Feedback won't be removed or edited just because the other party is upset with it. Make sure the feedback is accurate before it's posted. If both parties agree that the feedback rating should be changed a staff member can change it to neutral only upon request. We will not change from positive to negative or vice versa.
  • Only the two parties associated with a transaction are permitted to post in the feedback threads for that transaction. All other posts will be deleted.
  • Each party to a transaction is permitted two posts per feedback thread. The initial feedback post is considered one of the two posts. This permits each party to post feedback and a rebuttal if needed. The thread will be closed after four total posts. Feedback is not the place to resolve your dispute.
  • Any user with more than five negative feedback may have their Market Place privileges removed permanently.
All feedback must be approved by a staff member. We will review it to make sure you are a party of the transaction, that the thread id is valid and accurate, and that the username the feedback is left for is accurate. We also use it for monitoring patterns of negative feedback. Approval should happen within 24 hours. Your feedback or comment will not appear until it's been approved. If there is a problem with your feedback a staff member will contact you by private message.

Market Place Suggestions
  • Pay using PayPal on all smaller items. This way, if a part does not arrive, you can request a chargeback through your credit card company. Typically, they are very easily swayed in favor of their card member.
  • Check the other parties feedback here on the site.
  • All larger purchases, including vehicles, should be completed in person or through an escrow service such as Escrow.com.
  • Always ask for full name, residential address, and phone numbers (and call it to make sure it's right). Honest individuals should have no problem disclosing this info to you privately.
  • If photos of the actual item are not posted, ask for them. This helps prove they actually have the item to sell.
  • Use a shipment method with tracking, receipt confirmation, and insurance. Make sure you require a signature if the item is expensive. Shipping COD is risky.
  • Use your gut feeling. If something seems too good to be true, or the seller/buyer seems a little shady, don't take the risk.

How do I close a listing?
To close your listing simply click the "Close Thread" link to the right of the "Post Reply" button directly above the first post or directly below the last post in your ad. The ad will be moved to the Closed Ads section automatically within one hour.

How do I leave feedback?
Go to the sellers profile and click their iTrader Score tab. Here's what you should see:

Click on the View Complete Feedbacks link and you should see this:

You were the: Select whether you were the Buyer, the Seller, or if it was a trade from the drop down list.

Overall Experience: Select your overall experience with the other party. The feedback system rates users just like eBay giving +1 point to each positive feedback, 0 points to each neutral feedback, and -1 point to each negative feedback.

A short comment: What shows up as the Rating Summary and what everyone can see.

Deal thread URL: Paste the link to the Marketplace ad here (if applicable) to make it easier for Staff to review the feedback if there's a problem.

Additional comments: Post comments on the transaction. Be detailed and make sure it's accurate. After 15 minutes you will no longer be able to edit it and the staff will not change feedback comments. This part is Visible to buyer, seller and staff only

Why isn't my feedback score and percentage accurate?
We only update the public feedback scores and percentages once per day in the early morning hours. All approved feedback left during the previous 24 hour day will be added to your previous feedback score and percentage at that time.
