Provided the new filter meets or exceeds the OEM filter spec, your OK. Only problem is the cat filter doesn't have a water sensor/drain.

Stupid question and maybe it has already been brought up in this conversation...

I just bought the adapter/filter along with the o-rings to repair the filter head. My Question is, would it be beneficial to add an secondary filter like this:

Thoughts? Is there to much filtration and or would to much of a restriction on the fuel system to have both big cat filters?

I think the only concern is the strain on the cp3. I Personally run Nick's Aux filter adapter on the frame with a donaldson 3 micron water seperator and then his oem filter adapter with the shorter cat 2 micron. I love the setup but I have a raptor 150 lift pump. I also run a check valve to bypass the raptor pump in case of a failure. With my stock Cp3 my truck will still pull through both filters and the check valve with my 425whp tune and the fuse pulled on the pump. I guess it just depends on the shape of the injectors and cp3. For what its worth, I believe the cat filters will flow much better than stock, but I'm no expert. In my opinion the best route is some sort of lift pump with extra filtration.

that is my thinking as well. I think the adapter is more then enough filtration for my needs.

I run Nick's Aux Filter mounted on the frame with a CAT 1R0749 filter. I added Nick's OEM filter head adapter and run a CAT 1R0750 up front. It may be redundant filtering, but now I don't have to buy the expensive OEM filter and with both filters at 2 micron, I'm sure it doesn't get much better than that. I plan to change both at 20,000 mile intervals. I don't run any auxiliary lift pump and have had no problems.
